Things to Accomplish Before Graduation

Or, My List of Awesomeness

So, here’s a list of things I want to do before I graduate (I’ll probably be working on it long after, though and that’s okay with me).  I’m also including any good movies or books or other things that I’ve already read/watched/done that I think should be included in my list of awesomeness (I’ll underline anything already accomplished).

  • The Catcher In The Rye
  • 1984
  • Fahrenheit 451
  • Animal Farm
  • Anna Akhmatova’s Poetry
  • The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy
  • Les Misérables
  • The Hunchback of Notre Dame
  • The Seven Storey Mountain
  • Anna Karenina
  • Redwall Series
  • Island of Doctor Moreau
  • Don Quixote
  • Jane Austen’s 7 Novels
  • All of the Narnia Books
  • Tale of Two Cities
  • Great Expectations
  • To Kill A Mockingbird
  • Uncle Tom’s Cabin

Movies/Television Shows/Plays:

  • Grave of the Fireflies
  • Spirited Away
  • Les Misérables (With Uma Therman)
  • The Great Dictator
  • Young Frankenstein
  • Death Note
  • Bleach
  • Eden of the East
  • Bakuman
  • Gettysburg
  • Firefly (I have it on good authority that this is brilliant)
  • Life Is Beautiful (I’ve seen part of it and have been told since then that I must watch it in Italian with English subtitles).
  • It’s A Wonderful Life (Staple Christmas movie in our house)
  • White Christmas
  • Sound of Music
  • Star Wars
  • Star Trek (I’ve watched some of the movies but not all of them)
  • Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
  • Jesus Christ Superstar (Pretty darn good play.  My only problem was that they left out every bit of divinity that Christ possesses; they show the human side really well, though.)
  • To Kill A Mockingbird
  • Phantom of the Opera
  • Oedipus Rex (Yes, it’s kind of… odd.  But, all in all, it’s a good play…  Or at least the version I saw was 😉
  • Midsummer Night’s Dream (I’ve been in it as Puck but I’ve never actually seen it)
  • Ghandi
  • Anything and Everything I can possibly watch that’s Disney (Because Disney is imperative to life)
  • My Fair Lady
  • Princess Bride
  • 1776

Music (this is mostly just music I have enjoyed listening to that I think belongs on my list of awesomeness):

  • Albannach
  • The High Kings
  • Anything Andrew Lloyd Webber
  • Pretty Much Any Disney Music (I’m particularly fond of Aladdin)
  • Third Day
  • James Taylor
  • George Jones (More for memory’s sake than because of the actual music)
  • What is commonly known as “Methodist Hymns” in literature (I’ll Fly Away, for example).
  • Andrea Bocelli (He has an absolutely amazing voice)
  • I enjoy listening to Gregorian Chanting (yes, I’m weird)
  • Classical piano music (Ever since I started learning how to play I’ve grown quite fond of listening to it)
  • Dizzy Gillespie (I need to listen to him more)
  • Airstrip 1 (Because I know Mr. Jërk and that’s just cool)

  • Master a whole set of Tavern Puzzles
  • Be able to play the Accordion
  • Be able to write legibly with My Toes
  • Be able to Communicate in Spanish

Things to Know:

  • Get used to waking up at 5:30 in the morning
  • College Staff is disorganized
  • Professors and fellow students will test my faith
  • I will be witness to things in college that I never wanted to see/hear, so be prepared
  • Keep my faith in the forefront of my mind so that I don’t get too caught up in school and forget it
  • Pick the right friends
  • Enjoy myself
  • Don’t rush the growing up thing
  • Go to local attractions/sites and enjoy being where I am while I’m here (This is a good one for me to remember)
  • Spend time with friends and family
  • Keep a journal
  • Push my boundaries while I can still find comfort at home easily (Another really important one)
  • Never underestimate the power of the sea to soothe the soul. Go often to its shores.  (Really awesome advice and something I would never think of)

  • Christ
  • Don’t worry about guys until I graduate (I think this one has already flew out the window but I said I’d put any responses on here so that I can keep it in mind).
  • In light of the above: Don’t do the whole flighty fickle thing when it comes to relationships.

AH! How many years ago was this (it’s January 2015 now)? I don’t even know… I haven’t done half of these things and the things to remember list is useless. Things to remember: Keep holding Jesus’ hand. Love with abandon. Be real and honest and realize that you’ll miss out on at least one great friend if you dismiss them because they don’t fit in your box of “good.”

*GASP* Gone With the Wind isn’t on here anywhere!! Even in the already watched part! It’s a classic and a super long movie…

You know my feelings on that absolutely, positively, depressing movie… But I can put that on there since it’s like one of the best selling movies of all time or something silly like that… 😉 And ’cause I think of one of my bestest friends whenever I think about the movie. 🙂
